Waterfall Chasing – Interactive Map

Waterfall Chasing – Interactive Map

There’s something pretty magical about waterfalls – they make us feel happy, and peaceful, and good about being out in nature.  In fact, a quick google search shows many articles talking about negative ions, found in abundance at waterfalls, boost our seratonin, create positive vibes and lift our spirits.  Check out WebMD here.  And so, since we live close to so many waterfalls, we started Waterfall Chasing.  And have created this Interactive Map of all the waterfalls we have visited.

There is a great website that we use for reference, to discover all the waterfalls, and to decide on which one to visit next:  http://waterfallsofontario.com/

The map below shows the locations of the waterfalls that we have visited.  Each red marker links to the video along that trail.  Check back often as we’ll be keeping it up to date.

Bike Cam Videos along the Waterfront Trail

Bike Cam Videos along the Waterfront Trail

If you know us a little bit, you will know that we have ordered a van so that we can turn it into a camper.  We should have had it by now (May 2021), but alas, due to parts shortages, we don’t have it yet.  While we wait, we have taken to the bike trails and are recording Bike Cam Videos along the Waterfront Trail.

The Great Lakes Waterfront Trail stretches 3600 km along the Canadian shores of the Great Lakes Region.  Click here  for more information on the Waterfront Trail.

The map below shows that spots with bike trails that we have visited.  Each red marker links to the video along that trail.  Check back often as we’ll be keeping it up to date.

South Shell Park in Oakville Ontario

South Shell Park in Oakville Ontario

There’s a new park in town – South Shell Park in Oakville Ontario!  It opened up in July 2020 and we finally made time to go check it out.  It was a windy, cool, clear, sunshiney day in September and it was absolutely beautiful!

From the parking lot (free parking), we saw a staircase leading down to the water.  We found ourselves on a stoney beach.

After coming back up the stairs we took a little walk along the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail.

After a short 5 minute walk, we found another staircase down to the water.  This one led to an amazing sandy beach.

At the end of the trail (10 minutes or so) we found the BluWater condos.  If you have a million dollars lying around I’d highly recommend buying a unit here – it would have the most amazing view! 🙂

Oh!  There’s also a brand new park for the kiddies (also washrooms and a water refill center).

You too can visit this gorgeous little park.  It’s on the west end of Oakville and just a 40 minute drive from Toronto.  You can even see the Toronto skyline on a clear day.

There are many other pretty places to visit in Oakville while you’re here.  Click here to check them out.  Thanks for visiting!
